Poet and novelist Judy Johnson visited the University of Canberra on 30 August 2012 to conduct a seminar on her creative practice. Following is an edited interview based on that seminar between Judy Johnson and Paul Hetherington.

Judy Johnson has published three poetry collections, with another forthcoming in the next few months. Her second collection, Nomadic won the Wesley Michel Wright Prize and her verse novel, Jack won the Victorian Premier’s Award for poetry. In 2011 she spent a month at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Ireland as part of an Alumni exchange program with Varuna Writer’s Centre.
Paul Hetherington has published eight collections of poetry and two poetry chapbooks. Recently a finalist in the international Aesthetica creative writing competition and longlisted for the Montreal International Poetry Prize, he edited the final three volumes of the diaries of the artist Donald Friend. He is Associate Professor of Writing at the University of Canberra.
